American Entry Into WWI


America joined due to the interception of the Zimmerman telegram and the sinking of the Luisitania, which contained numerous American passengers.

What were new weapons/inventions from WWI?


Although poison gas was used before, this was the first time it was created for the purpose OF creating poison gas. Therefore, poison gas, trenches, machine guns and flamethrowers were new weapons/inventions of WWI.

Causes of War


M.A.N.I.A: Militarism, Alliances, Nationalism, Imperialism, Assassination.
A Serbian man assassinated the Archduke Franz, the next in line, of the Austria-Hungary kingdom.

Fourteen Points - Main Idea


A speech created by President Woodrow Wilson. He basically said: "Forgive Germany, stop another war."

Women During WWI


Grew crops at home front, worked at factories to make war goods, and took care of children. They were also nurses in the war and grew victory gardens.

War Bond (Liberty Bond)


You loan money to the government so they can pay for the war, and they gave you a paper. After a certain period of time, you can take the paper, go to the bank, and get your money back.

Treaty of Versailles


The Treaty of Versailles forced Germany to give up their air force, most of their army and forced them to pay reparations (the cost of the war). They were also forced to take all the blame.

Zimmerman Telegram


Germany's telegram to Mexico: join us and we will give you land from America.

Life in Trenches


Terrible, smelly, crowded, disease filled, big rats. No showers, dead bodies were left lying around. Trench foot was common. Easy pickings for snipers.

Triple Alliance (Central Powers)


Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman.

Triple Entente (Allies)


U.S.A (they replaced Russia after they left due to an internal conflict), England and France.
